Sound familiar?

Of course.

Change is something that most of us resist.

I want you to know, I had a patient one time that I wanted to change.

This is a lady that was my neighbor, and she had been talking to me about coming to see me, and she had low back pain.

But after five years, she never came, until one day she came in desperately needing a chiropractic adjustment.

What I did is, that I started finding out why she came in, and it was because she had a golf tournament coming up, and she was afraid that she was not going to be able to play it.

All I did was talk about golf, and how chiropractic can improve your golf game.

Listen, I want you to know that there are three things that I’ve used that can allow you to be able to help others change.

You ready?

The first one is, understand where they’re coming from.

See, one of the first thing that we have to understand is that unless we really understand where the individual is coming from, we’re going to pretty much just give them what we think they should be doing, or how they should be changing, instead of understanding how they got there in the first place.

So just pay attention to that.

The second is, you’ve got to meet them where they’re at.

You gotta talk their language, you gotta be able to make sure that whatever it is you want them to change, you gotta see what is not working for them in that area, so you can bring, maybe no new solutions, new suggestions.

The last one is, be an example.

You see, by being an example, even without saying anything, remember, only 15% of our communication are words. 85% is what you do, what you are, so make sure that you’re being the example of the change that you would like to see in them.
